I Love Brands Like Khaite and the Row - What Are Their Sustainable Alternatives?
Bianca Foley
Style wise, I am stuck between two camps. I flip between being a firm lover of minimalism and colourful, maximalist styles. At the moment, I am definitely in my minimalist era and am loving brands that epitomise timeless elegance. There are a few particular brands that really dominate this aesthetic and social media is awash with sleek pieces, great tailoring and oversized yet flattering designs in an array of monochromatic hues. A few luxury brands in particular loved by the fashion elite are The Row and Khaite, both known for their cult collections, effortlessly chic designs and insanely high price tags. Pieces like The Row’s sold out Half Moon Bag have been all over Instagram whilst Khaite’s incredibly versatile Dallas Knee High Boots have been on every fashion blog.
The Row launched back in 2006 by child-stars-turned-businesswomen The Olsen sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, back in a time when celebrity brands were not the “done” thing. Fast forward 18 years and they have created a brand that now shows at Paris Fashion Week and challenges traditional fashion houses, creating a level of desirability and style that is known by those “in the know” without being brandished with logos. Searches for the brand increased by 93% in Q1 2024 according to The Lyst Index Top 20.
Khaite launched back in 2016 and has a laundry list of celebrity fans including Selena Gomez and Katie Holmes (we all remember her infamous cashmere bra and cardigan combo of 2020). Since its launch, the Khaite has catapulted to cult status, with interesting designs that are classic and surpass trends.
