I Want to Shop The Bag Charm Trend More Sustainably - Here Are The Cutest Ones I’ve Found Second-Hand On Vestiaire

Alice Hartwell

Just a few glances at the content from Copenhagen Fashion Week confirmed two things for me: First, I absolutely love Scandi style, and second, a bag charm renaissance is imminent. If your bag isn’t jingling with kitschy charms and adornments over the next few months, I fear you’re missing out. In what is perhaps a natural style progression alongside the ongoing Y2K love affair, accessories are circling back to becoming bolder, louder (quite literally) and, frankly, messier. Think Mary-Kate Olsen’s battered yet be-charmed Birkin, an icon of the early 2000s. After a wave of clean girl, slick back bun, neutral tidiness, perhaps this is one of the many upcoming trends to usher a redirection in the style zeitgeist.

Whenever a new trend arises, I always assess how I can hop on it more sustainably. The most conscious way to shop is always second-hand or vintage, which feels very appropriate when sourcing for a fashion moment that last saw love over 20 years ago. If there’s any reselling platform that will have you covered in this respect, it’s Vestiaire. They currently have countless pages of pre-owned designer bag charms that tick every box for this trend – big, colourful, dangly, fluffy, logo-heavy and a bit tacky but in a cute and fun way. Here are a few of my favourite finds to add a little more personality to your purses throughout autumn.
