After the whirlwind of September fashion month, it felt like an appropriate time to cast our minds back to the runways of AW23/24, so you can stay a la mode into the upcoming seasons. I’m a big believer that trends can still be sustainable if you take responsibility for approaching them in a conscious way. Here’s your AW23/24 style forecast made both wearable and eco-friendly.

Power Workwear

Shoulder pads and power suits were back and bigger than ever on the AW23/24 runways. It’s a look that’s super easy to replicate and that remains enduringly timeless. This trend calls for blazers, suit trousers and fitted skirts galore – all made from eco-friendly fabrics, of course.

Tartan Revival

The loss of creative powerhouse Vivienne Westwood back in December ushered in a wave of tartan homages, a trend set to rule this autumn and winter. Embrace punkish rebellion either shopping for this bold print, or sustainably renting some of Westwood’s own designs.

Less Is More

The lingerie as an outwear trend is nothing new, we’ve seen designers embracing it for a few seasons now. Obviously a slightly less wearable style when running daily errands, (or maybe it is, go you!) “less is more” can easily be recreated with a touch of lace, sheer fabrics and showing a little skin.

Fiery Red

The runways of AW23/24 were awash with red. Undeniably the colour of the season, brighten up your days with outfits of fiery rouge. If that feels a little too bold for your style, embrace a touch of this shade in accessories instead.

Return Of The Big Black Coat

Going hand-in-hand with gothic revival, we see the return of the big back coat this season. One of my wardrobe staples, and in contender for my favourite fashion piece ever, I’m very happy to see long black coats returning to the spotlight. This is truly an investment purchase which will never age, and one you’ll never regret making.
