Winter trends you’re going to see everywhere—and where to shop them sustainably
Alice Hartwell
A new season means a fresh crop of trends for the fashion girlies to get excited about. While we’ve probably seen these style shifts in some capacity before, it’s always fun to explore new directions and takes. AW24 fashion shows gave us a sneak peek of what we should expect to be en vogue (literally) over the next few months, but the motto of the conscious consumer should always be to take what sticks and leave what doesn’t. Don’t forget—if it’s a timeless trend worth exploring, you likely already have the uniform for it. So, dig out those heavy-duty knits and let’s get into the Winter trends we predict you’ll be seeing everywhere this season, and more importantly, where you can shop them responsibly.
Mocha Mousse
Fresh off the back of being named Pantone’s 2025 colour of the year, get ready to see this chocolatey shade of brown…a lot. Good news for all the neutral lovers, myself included, this warming, rich hue is currently being added to every designer’s seasonal colour palette.
Good sartoial wear is nothing new, and corporate-chic has been walking the runways for a few seasons now. What’s new for AW24, however, is a refined approach to accessorising. Embrace a silk scarf or even a tie when styling your next power set.
Baby, it’s cold outside, and the runways are telling us to wrap up (thank god). The more fabric the better—that’s the message from designers this season. Welcome wrap coats, capes, ponchos and, of course, a scarf that doubles as a blanket.
In what feels like an evolution of the tartan trend from AW23, and maybe a touch of the Saltburn effect, apparently we should be strutting around like fashionable, country estate owners this winter. Think barn jackets and a healthy dose of vintage Burberry.
Leather is always bound to return through winter and autumn, and this year, it’s being popularised in a wet-looking vinyl finish. This distinct texture will add a nice contrast and element of dimension to cut through knit-heavy outfits this season.
If this trend forecast proves correct, we won’t be seeing anyone’s neck until spring. Keep your jumpers rolled up high to align with this practical and highly sophisticated trend. The classic turtleneck proves a fantastic layering piece, or statement item if you opt for a bolder colour or design.
