My Winter Skin Essentials On A Budget
Esme Price
Winter wreaks havoc on my skin and sometimes it’s easy to want to branch out and experiment with new routines or new products, but I have found it’s better not to get carried away by the trends and stick to what I know. I’m a student and my budget for skincare is minimal so I want to make sure that everything I am using is effective, sustainable and purse friendly!
My skin benefits the most from lightweight, subtle products that I have researched and invested in, that my skin can get the most benefits from. Less is more in my eyes and when products are filled with organic ingredients and no harsh chemicals, it reacts the best. I have pulled together some of my personal favourites that are my everyday essentials, that help balance my sensitive and dry skin.
Make this year the year you find conscious, responsible products that will help your skin glow through the winter and blossom through the sunshine. Hopefully the below products will help guide your skincare adventure…
Frank body – Original Coffee Body Scrub
Frank Body has been a body essential for me for as long as I can remember. This coffee scrub does not only get rid of any dead skin on my body, it also leaves me feeling beautifully soft and smelling like early mornings. They have a range of scents to choose from; perfect if coffee doesn’t float your boat.
Frank Body – Rosehip Body Scrub and Cleanser
For a fresher alternative, this vegan-friendly recipe, infused with rosehip is 2-in-1 scrub and cleanser, for a creamier exfoliation. Both products help to reduce breakouts, scars, cellulite and stretch marks, whilst leaving you ‘oh-so soft.’
Liz Earle – Cleanse and Polish
This is the most used product I have in my skin routine, whether it is day or night I reach for Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish. With sustainably sourced cocoa butter, the creamy formula hydrates my skin feeling instantly more dewy and refreshed. It is perfect for sensitive or dry skin and comes with its own sustainably made cotton cloths to help get deep into pores.
Ren – Radiance Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic
This miracle tonic works its magic overnight, delivering multiple benefits in just one step. This leave-on, pore reducing toner helps to eliminate dead skin cells and exfoliates away excess sebum to reveal a brighter, clarified, hydrated, smoother and more even-looking complexion.
Ulé – Oh La Plump Quenching Hydration Serum
Made with 100% traceable ingredients, this vegan-friendly, powerful serum is designed to intensely hydrate and help plump the skin. It also helps smooth away fine lines, leaving the skin looking more youthful and radiant.
Botanics – All Bright Hydrating Night Cream
I have used Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream for years, and it’s the only cream that makes me feel hydrated when I wake up. The thick and light smelling night cream has the power to make my dry patch prone skin feel rejuvenated overnight.
Having a staple face cream is the base for how your skin survives the day, battling all weather conditions. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is designed to protect your skin through anything and ensures 24hr lasting moisture and is the best product to splurge on (in my opinion).
L’Occitane – Shea Butter Hand Cream
You may have seen this product go viral online, but for good reason. This fair trade certified organic shea butter is purchased straight from female cooperatives in Burkina Faso. Along with their reliable ethos and sustainable practices, this thick formulated hand cream really will help your hands and nails withstand the colder months.
Garnier – Probiotic Derived Fractions Eye Sheet Mask
If you are like me, by winter time my eyes really need some TLC. These eye masks contain probiotic factions that eliminate appearances of dark circles and illuminate eyes. As I have sensitive skin, these masks are the perfect, calming option to help me relax. These eye masks are also compostable and suitable for home composting too!
